Preventative Botox® is gaining popularity among the younger population  (including millennials living in Jupiter, Stuart, Port St. Lucie, and Palm Beach). WHAT EXACTLY is BOTOX® and HOW DOES IT WORK?

Botox® is the brand name for Botulinum Toxin Type A, a neuromodulator that selectively relaxes muscles for the purpose of reducing dynamic wrinkles. According to Dr. Barrett,  it does this by temporarily relaxing the muscles.

There is no exact age when you should start Botox®, Xeomin®, or Dysport®, but sooner you treat, the better your results will be.  It’s like sunscreen.  Do you want to put sunscreen on after you get sun damage or when your skin is still pristine to keep it that way as long as possible?  The later you start, the more difficult it will be to reduce the now permanent wrinkles.

Many Milliennials are starting to see the benefit of using BOTOX® for preventative measures.  According to American Society of Plastic Surgeons, among 20 to 29-year-olds, BOTOX® procedures have increased 28% since 2010.

WHEN DOES BOTOX® KICK IN?

While it varies from person to person, on average it takes a few days to two weeks for BOTOX® to relax the muscle.  If you’re not seeing results after two weeks, definitely contact the provider.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET BOTOX
